96 heads on a 94 engine?????

i am o so close to getting some 96 heads ex manifolds(i won't put them on right away though, i will save my $$$ and get the worked ova first ). but be4 i get them. i have 1 question left from that lengthy post i had about heads,cams,and lifters.

we all know that pre-96 have a higher compression height on the pistons. couple that with the smaller chambers. and u got a little compression going. the main reason i want 96 heads cause of the revisions made and the better flow characteristics i have heard about.

the question i have is: if u put 96 heads on say a 94 engine, is the difference in compression height on the pistons going to cause any problems with this swap?

I don't think it would cause any problems. The gain in compression won't be phenomenal. You would see 9.7:1 or so vs. the 9.25:1 that you have now.

oh wait, I just thought about what I said and it wouldnt matter cause its not like you are using the internals from the 96 banks/carriers...

Hmmm, so I guess a better question would be do the 94 valves fit the 96 heads properly.

They are the same size valves. GM redesigned the exhaust valve heads but I wouldnt use them anyway. Im not sure the 96 heads flow better either, has anyone flowed them yet?
