I never really looked into out maf sensor and I was wondering what bar is our map sensor and what can we change with it besides northstar

Considering I posted it on dohc performance yes, I'm referring to dohc. And the reason asking is cause I threw on a 3 bar map sensor and tossed my old one because I'm the one that has a procharged dohc grand prix and I'm running alky control 3 stage. They sent me a 3 bar map sensor cause I'm running it under 3 different stagesLast edited by choppester; 06-07-2009, 06:10 PM.

Under three different stages?? WTF does that mean? And why does 3 stages of alk have to do with a 3 bar MAP sensor? The BAR is how much PSI it can read/measure... not stages.sigpic New 2010 project (click image)

I put maf sensor and I have a dohc lq1 motor. The alcohol injection is on 3 different stages, but when I bought the kit they sent me a custom maf sensor thats a 3 bar. sorry for the confusion, that one night I had along day and I forgot I was talking about my lq1 and not my 3100 motor. I running a 3 bar maf sensor cause of the boost and the alcohol. the maf sensor helps us tune out the alky kit and procharger to match each other at the different boost levels from different rpms to get the most potential. anybody got me? so when I made the post I was drunk sorry you got me lol.Last edited by choppester; 06-06-2009, 11:26 PM.

are MAFs rated in BAR, i thought it was a lb/hr or gm/sec or CFM rating?Last edited by robertisaar; 06-07-2009, 10:04 AM.

MAP is rated in BAR (pressure), MAF is rated in grams/sec (mass).

man lol. ok here they sent me a map sensor but I have a maf sensor, we are trying to change and thats the problem. Its easier to adjust the tuning with a map sensor with the alky kit so I'm wondering has anybody done this or what are the thoughts on this. I was told the alky kit would work with the maf sensor and to leave out the map sensor but the maf would need to be tunedLast edited by choppester; 06-07-2009, 02:57 PM.

this is all on 95 lq1
light weight lifters
ported heads machined
procharger p1sc 7psi
ported intake upper/lower
ported exhaust manifolds, little port
msd coil packs
big intercooler
3inch exhaust no cat comes right off of the down pipe
magnecore wires and ect little stuff
this is whats going in this month and all done at the same time
alky control kit
tuning custom and expensive
walbro 255lph
adjustable fpr and custom fuel rail
removal of egr valve
shorted intake custom
and bigger throttle body (in the making at machine shop)
We are trying to get the alky control kit to put different pressure at the pump to match the rpms along with the fuel system, all trying to tune it out to its best running, AND YES I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, I have an alky control kit that I installed at the shop on many gn's, this is an experiment car that we got pretty cheap awhile ago. I have never worked with a maf set up and installed alcohol injection. I was recommenced that it would be best to switch to a map setup instead for it to be easier tuning process with the alcohol injection but I've never heard of that being done with these motors and I don't know why somebody would want to do that much work.Last edited by choppester; 06-07-2009, 06:08 PM.
