problem solved, get a 97 3100 PCM, and have it tuned for a 3.4..
is there a problem with that?
Haven't looked into it. Only thing I can see different is the Final Drive Ratio might be different. So you will need to get the PCM tuned to work with the current tranny in the car. I am sure it could be done with a 97 3100 PCM. Just need time, patience and money if you don't know what you are doing.

What bin file are you planning on using or what car is this from? I can help with some programming if you need it... But I can't tune it for you unless you have the ability to data log... without logs tuning is a shot in the dark.
I use a 1997 PCM in my two beretta's, one which is a 95 OBD1.5 conversion to OBDII... I flashed it with the 1997 Venture 3400 bin file since its setup for a 3400 and a 4t60e application. My beretta came with a overdrive setup on the drive gears where the 97 Venture came as a 1:1 ratio on that... so I just edited my drive sprocket ratio and my shift points and all is well. My 96 is an underdrive setup on the chain now, and my 95 is a 1:1 (3.69 and a 3.06 FDR respectively)
Its very simple to do as long as you have a compatible tuner. I know DHP works great for me, but I'm not sure how well HP tuners will work in that aspect, or if you have the ability to change those settings.
So really, its not the ECM thats the limitation.... I can use ANY 97 ecm since I can do a full bin flash. The trans controls come more from the bin file, and IIRC both bins I'm using have the ability to control shift pressure and shift time, so I could essentially run a 4t65e if I added the proper wires out to the trans that are needed to control those functions, over just the shift solenoid wires.

So what would need to be done for my setup? Right now I am running a 96 3.4L DOHC with 4T60-E. I converted the car from OBD1.5 to OBDII. I have a 97 PCM, but I am using the 96 PCM as of right now since the 97 PCM uses the 65-E. I am also using a 97 Monte Engine bay harness. So I had to make an adapter from the 65-E plug to the 60-E plug since I didn't want to hack up the engine bay harness.
Ok, well as you noted you can use a 97 harness on a 4t60e, so then all the wires you need for your 60e are there and are being used.
Now as I noted its the data in the file that does the extra controls, and really if you think about it if you have info in that table for shift time or shift pressure its null and void if you put your ecm on a 60e since those outputs go no where.
You should be able to run the 97 PCM in the same way you are now with the adapted plug for the 60e, I say give it a shot and see what happens.
So what car did this ECM come from? A 1997 Monte 3.4 DOHC? Because the Monte bin I have for 1997 is a 3100/4t60e one... But I may also have a DOHC file, I'll check.
I have a 1997 Monte Z34 LQ1 bin file, OSID#16254468 Now I'm not sure if that type is readable by any other tuner than DHP though.
The 1997 Monte LG8 file is exactly the same tables, BUT the shift time and shift pressure ones are all 0's and something like that is easy enough to do on the other file.

The 97 Monte engine bay harness was a little different. I had to add one wire from the PCM to the tranny plug since the 65-E did not have this one wire. I pinned it to the PCM, but I am not sure if that wire will work at all on the 97 PCM. The 97 PCM is from a Monte Carlo with a LQ1.
I have a DHP PowrTuner that is unlocked so I can read and modify anything DHP supports.
What pin did you need to add to the 60e setup? Remember the function?
I can e-mail you the DOHC 97 file I have for you to flash to the 97 ecm and test on your car. I have a feeling it will work just fine.
I can't remember off the top of my head which wire it is. I have to find my GM Service Manual. I had a couple other people tell me I can't just re-wire the 65-E to work with the 60-E. So my solution to that was to just use a 96 PCM and make an adapter to go from the 65-E plug to the 60-E plug.
Edit:
I believe it was the 'TCC Enable Solenoid Valve Control'. The 65-E does not have this function.
I had a jy hacked up 97 harness so I pinned the tranny plug and range switch in to my 96 harness. I also found you there was some change in the range switch. (3years ago) I think they added another wire. So any way I could not get the car to start. On the tunner no sensors were responding. I had a mint 97 harness found in 97 they put a relay in the body fuse block on the other side for the fan. Why I have no clue I just added the longer 97 bus to the 96 block. SO then I went threw the fire wall plug and found that 96 had a large gauge wire to feed one of the cabs fuse block bus bars(feeds seat motors and rear defrost). So I added the feed wire and removed the wire that was in its place. There were 2 wires I still have no idea what they were for but my guess is its part of my cruse control. Still had no response from the pcm. Got another 97 pcm installed and found that the bad pcm left my fuel injectors on 100% on the time and filled and toped off my my intake manifold and my oil pan.... So after changing the oil and running the starter for a bit with 0 fuel pressure she started right up. Changed the oil a few more times every 10 miles and have been happy ever since. IF there was a point to the story I don't remember any more.
I have DHP and have been able to read 96 and 97 Z34 PCMs. I'll probably have HPTuners within the next week or two. It should be able to read and flash the 97 Z34 PCM. I do not believe HPTuners supports anything before 97.

I heard the same thing about HPTuner's. That it cannot support 96. Just 97 and newer.
I just ordered HPTuners this weekend. I'll have to let everyone know which bin files it will open. (Don't have the PCMs with me, so I won't be able to test that for a while.)
For my application I could use a HP tuner on my car but I would need to be using a 1997 Monte Carlo 3.1 Ecm otherwise it wouldn't be able to program it.
