        1st-spray with paint remover(aircraft quality)
2nd-you need to get rid of all casting bumps(roughness).
for the top of the intake i used a 8 inch orbital sander,in the grooves i used a dremel.
sand with 80 grit sand paper, moving on to 120,320,400,800,1000 and finnaly 1500 grit(there is no need for 2000 grit.
3rd-polish the shit out of it
4th-high temp clear coat.(so you dont have to keep polishing it every week)
dont polish by hand either, use an air tool,or drill.
mothers power ball works good.i personally use a 3inch polishing pad on a 2inch arbor for my die grinder
i personally dont like the polishing compounds you can buy(blue, brown, green, white, ect.
i just use AUTOSOL.ive tried lots and it seems to be best

im also doing my stock lumina rims,i will post pics later

Looks good man Are you going to take before and after pics of the rims? My truck rims need some help and I might try to do to them what you did to your intake, ect if it works out well for the rims.

yeah,i'll take some pics maybe tommorow and post them this weekend
ive only done two rims so far,so before and after pics will be easy.lol
also,if your rims are not to banged up,you could start with 320 grit sand paper

They aren't banged up, just a bit corroded. The previous owner didn't think much of leaving brake dust and road grime on them I think. The truck came from Michigan, so the rims and underside looks worse then the one the guy at the parts store owns that's a year or two older then mine. Luckily, it's salvageable.

highly polished wouldn't look good on my GP but it does on yours. Nice touch.

there not the best pics.mind you,im not even finished them yet.
ive still gotta polish them out more, then paint the recessed parts silver.
i dont want to polish the hole rim because it will end up looking like some 1950's hub cap or something.
if you are worried about wrecking your rims, then try to find a old used one or one that is close to the same, and practice
WTF?it says resolution is to high,it wont post
                  www.cardomain.com/ride/3240052)try going here.they are posted

Wow, that turned out nice I'm not really worried about wrecking them. I should take a pic of the corrosion on them, I don't think I can do anything to them that would make them look worse then what the brake dust and elements have done to them, unless I painted them camo or something. That is a little more polished then I would prefer for my truck rims, so I wonder what it would look like if I didn't clear them and let them kind of glaze back over a little...
