I dunno... all i have ever read is that its not that simple...

As per my other thread, until I get these new cylinder heads figured out nothing will be happening to the engine

You can either have the EGR port hole on the exhaust manifold welded shut or you can find something that will thread into it to cap it off. I seen some EGR cap off bolts somewhere on one of the forums, but can't remember where I seen them.

The UIM you will have to make a plate that bolts to it to block off the vacuum or you can have it welded shut.

And then you can call it done or have someone make you a chip to put in your ECM so your SES light doesn't come on.

Sorry about bringing up old thread and i hate doing it but i just have to ask this..

Bve32k, IS it really that easy? if it was just about everyone would be OBD2..

for the large part, no, its not that easy, not to mention you'll have to buy a new PCM then spend 400 for HPT or pay someone else to tune it, or leave it untuned, which makes no damn sense if you're looking to be able to tune it.

exact reasoning why i "downgraded" to obd1, much easier/cheaper to work with

It is pretty easy if you get a 96 engine bay harness and 96 PCM. Little more work is involved with 97+ engine bay harness.

On the 96 harness all you need to do is add 2 power wires. And move a couple pins at the C100 connector on the engine bay side. Then one wire needs to be added in on the C100 connector on the interior side. You will have to get the OBDII port for the interior. Those wires can just be re-pinned. You will also need to get a second knock sensor for the front of the engine. There should be a hole for it to screw in or it may be capped off and you can just take the cap out.

Thats really all that needs to be done. The PCM will need to be tuned for the best performance. I am sure there are people on the forum that could do a decent tune for a decent price. A lot more tuning options are available for OBDII.

I upgraded to OBDII with my car and that came with a tune, for less than $150. Should have done some more looking around robertisaar. Taking out the chip every time it needs to be tuned is for the birds.

meh, i like "outdated" stuff: OBD1, overhead valves, etc...

Sounds convincing.. I will be looking into that.. I should be getting my 96 intakes soon.. Do you know what exact wires go where and stuff?? is there a write up?
