    all depends on the drive shaft and tq arm, any which way i look at it theres a bit of work to do.

    the trans x member can stay in the stock location but the trans mounting point would have to be modified which really isn'ta big deal, but the fbody uses a trans mounted tq arm stock so u would have to do a custom arm mount or lengthen the tq arm. Lengthening it wouldn't be good for traction. but a custom mount would be ok and isnt hard either

    if this was just a daily driver nothing special etc if alls it took was moving the motor forward 1 inch id deff be doing it,im just planning out the best way to do this for the cars intended use, which is street strip use but mostly strip time

    in my case i want the motor mounted as low and as far back against the firewall as possible

      I say its easier to section a peice of the subframe back.

        engine is ordered, should be delivered to my shop sometime next week.

        im not gonna do anything with it for the time being except tear it down.
        ive got the 3.1 comming out and the car being gutted and preped for a long over due paint job

        while the cars out for paint ill go threw the new motor and start to work on that

        ive read theres only so much u can do with cams on these motors whats the safe lift limit on them?

          If you don't need power steering you can rotate the lower intake 180 and have the intake and coolant lines going the other way. If you get an ac delete bracket it will leave the left motor mount holes and wide open to any custom mount. If you run a 96 pcm with a manual you may need to have the pcm reflashed DigitallyPhoenix or me can help with that. You set it up so it thinks its in neutral. If you want to run a auto 4L60 or 4L65 ask about that I may be able to help.

              cool thanks for the info. i wont be using a stock ecm on this.
              im going to use my megasquirt ecu and switch to a ford wasted spark edis ign system

              ive also just learned that the factory rwd mounts need minimal modification to bolt to the motorand get the motor in. though im thinking about doing custom solid mounts anyway.

              if i modify the stock mounts the subframe needs minor modification to clear the alternator.

              so far this swap is looking like a pretty much drop in deal, with just a touch of fab work to be done

              me and a friend went over some numbers trying to figure out the turbo selection for this motor and so far it looks like a pair of holset hx35/40 hybrids or a pair of t61's with t3 .63 hotsides will go on this motor

              a pair of garrett gt35R's would be perfect but im broke lol and cant afford 1,600 bucks per turbo

                  wiper motor has to come out.
                  the only way to retain the wiper motor is to move the motor foward,im gonna look into actyally moving the wiper motor and making an extension for the driver arm,or seeing if there is a different wiper motor that can be used

                    as far as the heater box theres 2 solutions.
                    #1 if u want to keep the ac is the heater/ac box can be trimmed and refilled with fiberglass resin.
                    #2 g20 van non ac box
                    Fabrication - Went the G20 A/C Delete Box Route.... - .... and I couldn't be happier. Needed a little strip of sheetmetal added to the far right side, about an inch in width, and could either be spot welded, or pop riveted into place (from behind).                     ill be going the g20 route since i dont have ac,and i deffenitaly need to put the heater back in the car

                    i wa slooking at the wiper motor assembly and it looks like the motor can just be rotated on the mounts to swing it out of the way. if so then alls that will have to be done is to offset the arm crank the same amount the motor was rotated

                        sorry been a while but i have officially axed this project.
                        i got the 3.1 up and running with a new 67mm turbo and have done some testing at 28 psi.and the car is just flat out sick, for the lil bit of driving i could do.
                        wot under 70mph just results in tire aniliation
                        i dont know if im going to keep the motor or not depends on what happenes to my 3.1.
                        i have a fully forged 355 shortblock sitting on my engine stand that will replace the 3.1 if it makes it midway threw the season at high boost levels.
                        if the motor lasts i will buy another v6 camaro to put it in detuned of course for a nice dd.
                        if it dosent last i may decide to put the dohc motor in the new car or just transfer my setup onto the stock motor and call it done, and then sell/part the dohc
