IE The 1.8 litre 4 Acrua uses a forged bottom end that can handle up to 400Hp .
Audi AWD system won't really work (i mean w/o alot of money). Versatrac AWD bolts right up the the engine. would take less work to make the Versa trac system work (already transversly mounted and uses a GM V6 bell housing..... cause its from a GM V6.....Modified 4T65-E)

with enough fuel and tuning you can make 300-400+hp. just because its forged doesn't mean you can make a ton of power... It makes it a little stronger... My Monte is making 290hp/270tq on 7psi turboed. That equates to ~340hp to the crank. so you can make the power just like a B18/B16/D16/H22 hell even a Geo Storm can make power if you build it right... The "Unicorn" 280hp LQ1 never was in a production car. and i can assure you it was Vastly different then the production LQ1's. Fact of the matter is if you want to make any kind of power it will take ALOT of money and ALOT of custom Fabrication.

And FTR Transverse mounted FWD Automatic transmissions have a 15-18% drivetrain loss...... Period.

Yeah, if not more loss. When the FWD guys swap from the 60-e to the 5spd 282, they gain like a full sec in the qtr! LOL

I thought the 284 was the more popular one to toss behind an LQ1? At least that's the route I took...

i have driven both and the 5 spd versions are quicker. it has less to do with drivetrain loss and more to do with gearing. the 284 gearset is probably better than a v6 282 gearset on a w-body.

unfortunately, the lq1 doesn't have anything for it in the aftermarket. 300hp can be had but it is going to cost you; most turbo theirs for power and can easily get 300+ hp.

the bottom end is cast on a lq1 but the bottom end is pretty strong though(i am guessing the 60degree angle must make it stronger or something). i have seen 325whp on a stock engine before(i think that goes for around 370ish) and with a slightly built one, i have seen 380whp on 13psi i believe. that equates to around 430 hp i think.

edit: i think this guy got 300 n/a hp out of his. asking price is decent too, i think the coupes may be lighter than the 4 doors so one could buy this and do a drivetrain swap. $2500 is a steal for the drivetrain work i believe.

I was refering to the L body crowd, but there is both 282 and 284's from the factory in W bodies. The 282 was on the 3.1/etc and the 284 was on the LQ1s.

(l body again) Even a 3.69 geared 4t60-e (3400 modified) behind a cammed headered 3400/3500 can't pull a 13 1/4 yet, but the old lighter smaller 3spd auto behind a stock headered 3500 can... So yeah it does suck power. A 5spd is all mechanical gears with no fluid losses or extra crap to turn.

I thought I remember hearing a FWD manual tranny had about a 15-16% drivetrain loss and an auto had around 18-19%. But then again, this is what I thought I remember hearing, so don't quote me on it. But yeah, as far as loosing power through the trans, manual > auto.
