  • 96'-97' Headers group buy????

    Hey Everyone,

With all the talk about headers going on I thought I'd see IF anyone would be interested.

Mike Miller at Milzy Motorsports would sell his headers ( NON-COATED )
for the 96'-97' 3.4 DOHC to our company for around $690 IF we bought 10.

I had be meaning to post a thread about this incase there was 9 others interested cause I would personally buy a set.

If there ARE any that are SERIOUSLY interested then let me know.

This will never happen. I won't beat around the bush, it's just never going to. Period. More people have 91-95 heads than 96-97 heads. I tried my best to generate some interest in 91-95 headers, and when the time came to aid the project, everyone stood around with their hands in their pockets with nothing but lame excuses. Not that I care, because I'm still going to get my headers. But it may be the last time I try to get any interest grown in custom parts I have made for my car.

If you want headers, just make them yourself or have them made for your car alone. There are still some things we can generate enough interest for on the DOHC cars to get group buys done, but headers is one thing that just won't happen. Give up on it already.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

              Just my two cents.

But, maybe the reason it is so hard to get people interested in a group buy is because most of the people who have this engine realize that there is no after market (or even factory) support for it, and that maybe be the reason they chose this engine is for the challenge of havening to build and fabricate everything on their own. You know more of a learning project, just to see if you can. If I had wanted big, easy horsepower I know I would not have chosen this engine. But thats just one mans opinion.

That is why I chose it.

As far as the lack of interest, I would say most owners are plain CHEAP and have the mentality that a set of headers shouldn't cost that much b/c they have seen a set of headers for a 350 that cost $150 and think that one off headers should cost the same.

That doesn't cover them all, others are cheap b/c they work at a low paying job or have to pay child support for 6 kids. In this case living expenses superceed a hobby.

At that point there isn't much we can do. Only thing I can think of is perhaps find a way for the enthusiasts to get together and seperate themselves from the cheap bastards.

Well this is that one thing I have wanted since I got the GTP. If I can get a set of headers to my door for $1000 or less then I will be in. No excuses no BS! Just that some others may find dishing out a grand for a part that gives maybe 5-10HP gains a little excessive. I can understand that. I have had it rough money wise in my life too. But not anymore. I want I get.

So Dave if you can get me a set for the price mentioned for my 96 3.4DOHC then I am in.

                  BTW: you have a PM!

Well. If someone wants to give me $750 for my ceramic coated set, then they're yours. Yeah. Them pics. Those are mine! (Don't look that great on the bottom NOW but you get the idea)

I think I'm gonna get out of the game for good. Can't find the Monte I want. And I'm sick of being a low 13. Camaros tend not to lose to that.

Sorry to whore, but as mentioned. It was a nice challange at the time. I had fun with the car, but...people just move on. Had the car not broken....

c5 coupes look to go for about 15-20k. I seen one locally for 14k, the temptation was high .

c4 coupes can go for alot less 6500-10k.
Almost at that point. Between dumping a small fortune into my old Z24. Then buying a bunch of parts to build up a 3.1L 94 Z24 and never getting around to it and now starting to dump cash on the GTP. I am starting to think that myself.

just a guestimate but if you go for engine and suspension mods, a fully modded(either 300+ hp n/a or 325+ whp turbo) gtp/3.4 dohc should run you about 6500 total.
