I am not worried about about that. I am worried about the scratches inside, right under the wheel.

Ah, sorry. The pic is so dark on my monitor I couldn't see it. After adjusting the brightness in PhotoShop I can clearly see it.
It sure looks like a piece of grit went through there. Without taking the compressor housing off to get a look at the tips of the impellers it's hard to know if any real damage was done. My guess would be no. If the shaft turns freely, it'll be OK.
I had a vent tube (piece of steel tube about 5/8" long) come off a Holly 4-barrel and go into the compressor blades once. Sure tore the crap out of those blades, but they kept it out of engine.

Well the turbo is just about shot at 5000 miles. I took it off tonight to do the OBD II swap and man I cant tell you how much shaft play there is. I hope garrett will warrantee it,lol.

I have it split at the oil filter so its exactly half the output pressure from the motor. I was getting 7 at idle, and then I put a restrictor on it, went down to 5psi. I have no idea of the oil temp, i should probably add a oil cooler, but I have no idea of how to do so. I dont have any videos, but I can shoot some pics up. I know that there should be some movement, becasue there is no oil in it, and has not had any in about a month, but I can see severe rubbing on the inner part of the compressor side from the wheel, but non from the exhasut side. That makes me wonder what happened, although it always had some shaft play in it from the begining. I could be wrong again, but I dont think the turbo wheels are supposed to hit the side of the compressor, right??

If your compressor housing is not tightly bolted to the center cartridge or if yours uses a snap ring & the ring is to thin to fill the gap, then the housing could* be moving causing the wheel to rub/hit against the inner housing.Lifting my front wheels, one jack at a time.

Either way if there is excessive shaft play i would suspect the bearings in the turbo are bad or have allays been bad or the turbo was not properly ballanced it could cause excessive wear on the bearings. Spinning that fast it won't take long to damage them. Wait and see what garrett says.

I called a place today, 450 to rebuild and replce the one wheel. I found a kit for 75, I have a buddy thats pretty fluent around them, might give him a call. I did talk to another place and they told me that its not rebuildable I told them to STFU.

Screw that! If it is under warranty, make them eat it! 5k miles is stupid for something that expensive, and some thing that is supposed to be that precisely machined to go bad. I think you must have gotten a defective one and might want to push that on Garret since you only got 5k miles out of it. Heck, you can go that far in between oil changes with Mobil 1, you should be able to go MUCH longer between turbo changes. I see no reason why you should have to eat the cost of this, as long as it was installed properly and fed oil (and possibly coolant) within the guidelines of the install and specs.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

certainly did. I will call up another distributor, but you cannot contact garrett themself, which sucks. Unless someone knows??

Where did you get it from? Private party, or a distributor? If it's a private party and no warranty was implied, you might be up a creek on this. If it was a distributor, there should most likely be a warranty on it. Let's just hope you fall within the warranty still. I did a little googling and only found Garrett points you to their distributors, so yeah, I don't think Garrett likes being bothered directly.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

Try contacting them anyways, sometimes companies will make good. I had a sub that I bought new and the tinsel leads were slapping the metal basket. A flawed design. I contact the company and explained and showed pics. They said for a while they had a few being assembled out of house and that was probably one of them. I told them I didn't get it from a dealer and they went ahead and repaired it free because it was a defect and not from my damage or anything. They re-coned and rebuilt the whole thing and sent it back the day after they got it next day air!!!
Garrett is a bigger company though so you might not have much luck but sometimes there are people at a company that like to help users out sometimes. Worth a shot.sigpicNew 2010 project (click image)
