There's quite a bit of information about turboing the 3.4 DOHC on here. Please do a quick search of the forums (and my CarDomain page has a bit of info too). You should be able to find a lot of information and pictures. I'll do whatever I can to answer any specific questions you may have. Good luck!

I might have one for you but you have to take the whole car. It is a 92 Z34 w/ 112,XXX miles, still runs. Will ask $1,250. I'm in southern Wisconsin(near Madison).

hey mooncricket, can you do me a favor?

if you are not driving that car, could you remove the top piece to that bracket in the pic, take it to a machine shop and have them copy it?

i'll pay the bill, shipping and give you a little extra for your trouble.

              I thought all 91'-93' 3.4 DOHC W-body's with a manual came with the hm-284?

yea, 282's only came behind 2.8's, 3.1's and quad 4's
                All manual 3.4 DOHC's came with 284's.

oh my bad... but still im in canada and i cant afford to ship a hole car up here. and it looks as though you dont want to take the tranny out to sell alone cuz then you'll have a go nowhere

The HM282 will hold up to alot more power then you'll put out. Curtis was putting about 480lbs of TQ to his. There are a few Jbody guys putting between 400 and 500 HP to them.

Plus with the '282 you have options for better gear ratios and a whole assortment of aftermerket clutches and LSD's.

im pretty happy with the gear ratios i have, any higher and ill be banging shifts too fast. plus i go 190kmh in 4th gear. i havent taken the car to the track yet but i dout ill need to hit 5th gear. and i havent taken the diff out but im pretty sure its a limited slip. if the wheels are straight it will lay two patches of rubber and if im turning it will only be one. and in the snow regardless of how the wheels are turned both are spinning. so when i put a performance clutch in ill tighten the diff a bit and i will have no need for an aftermarket one. it's just not worth the money to me to have one 282 tranny with a bunch of aftermarket shit in it when my tranny needs repair anyway whether i get a 282 or not.

the only way you've got a limited slip is if you put it in.

                          true.

only place i know of that sells a lsd is engineered performance.

the 284 does have the perfect ratios for the w-body/lq1.

then i dont understand why my diff acts the way it does. my dad says it is acting like a limited slip so thats wat i figure is in it. makes sense to me. plus i dont know what the first owner of it did with it but i know he did some work. he did enough to make it faster than mustangs. that was his gole. but i honestly havent seen anything that shows me any work was done to it. im only going on what the guy said who gave it to me cuz he was sick of paying my dad to fix it all the time. guy totally abused the car. never took care of it. drove it around for 3 day's with the upper rad hose broken off and he called my dad saying the car was overheating really bad. i wonder why eh? dumb fuck never even opened the hood. but anyway he told me what the first owner of it told him and apparently there was work done. kinda a long shot to think it is the diff that he did but it sure acts like a limited slip. i guess ill see when i take it out. if its not maybe ill make it a mexican possy
