Turbo a 3.4L DOHC anyone?

Going in a straight line with equal traction on each side an open diff will spin both tires.
One test for this is to dump some water all over one front tire and leave the other side dry.. roll the car foreward a few inches, lock in the parking brake rev up a bit and dump the clutch in 1st and let the tire(s) spin for a bit...


then back up and check the marks, if it's an open diff just the wet side would spin and there shouldn't be any marks on the dry side.


with my limited slip if i touch the gas at all while turning it throws me all over the road.

If i was in a turn and spun the front tires, with the wheel still cutt... the car would continue going straight...

do you have torque steer? aka, you step on the gas and have to fight the steering wheel to keep it straight? If you do, you more then likely do not have an LSD.

well first of all, superdave, my e-brake does not work so i cant do that test. i would like to tho. i've never been able to do a smoke show. i can lay some nice strips of rubber but no big cloud of smoke.

but anyway now im just totally confused. my dad say's one thing, you guy's say another. im more inclined to believe you guy's are correct in saying it is an open diff. mainly cuz of the torque steer which seriously pisses me off some times. guess i'll update you when i take it out. but since it is probably not, where could i get a LSD for a 284?

You dont have a limited slip, trust me, my car will lay down 2 strips of rubber equal length if i do a burnout, and if i rev it up and dump the clutch the car doesnt move anywhere, all you see is smoke starting to pour over the wheel wells over the hood, lol ive smoked out intersections and this is with my 245/50z R16's , wait for the smoke to clear and there is 2 nice black strips same length, its all because of the design of the transmission with the intermediate shaft being in a housing bolted to the frame, and equal lenth half shafts . its perfect weight / power distribution for the wheels. if it was a limited slip it would steer bad and if you jack the front of the car up and spin one tire the other tire would spin at the exact same rate. now sometimes when i do that test both wheels will spin if i go a little faster, but just hold the other wheel and it will stop. the design is just really good which is why you can lay 2 strips. and honestly mine doesnt torque steer at all i dont know why you are having that problem, im sure ill have a problem when i finish with my turbo though.
