  • Forged Pistons, Rods, and Rear turbo manifold pics

    Hey guys,

I just got a bunch of parts over the last week. I have been working on some of them for over a year. I'll post the manifold first, then the pistons and rods.

The new rear head exhaust manifold: I took a 96 front manifold, had the flange milled off, and then had an e-bay flange welded on. It fits onto the rear head quite well. I do not yet know if it will work with my existing crossover. I suspect that it will.

    Enjoy.

Here are some pictures of the pistons including a comparison with stock 97 pistons. These are custom pistons from CP. If you would like more info on them, PM me. I can get you the info for the shop who ordered them for me along with the spec sheet that came with them.

And finally, here are the Pauter rods. Again, if you would like more info, please PM me. I have a part number for the rods as well. They are significantly beefier than the stock rods. Their design is a Pauter exclusive. It's not an I or H beam design.

I think the crose over pipe should be fine. The part number starts with a 1 in 96 and 97 so its prob compatable with all the years I think.

        96 Z34 3.4 SC DOHC Getrag, 284 5sd manual transmission, stage 3spec clutch, 97 engine, 97 pcm, S3 intercooler 1 of 1 Roots SC LQ1 in the world 8.5 psi.

I should have been more clear. I have a custom crossover that connects the two front manifolds on my 95 Z34 motor to the turbo and wastegate. I hope that it will fit on a 97 Motor with 97 front manifold and a custom 96 front manifold on the rear head. The reason why I had to hack up the manifold was that the ports and bolt patterns are reversed on the rear head. The ports would not have aligned with the manifold otherwise.

I'm just wondering what should your compression ratio with that combination be?
3.4 DOHC- 95 engine, custom intake manifold, custom cams, ported exhaust manifolds, Turbonetics T-62, Haltech standalone, 13.5 psi, air/h20 intercooler... yadda yadda...
1987 Fiero, ST lowering springs, KYB's, Clutchnet dual diaphragm 6-puck, custom paint, 18's with falken fk452 225 front Nitto NT05 245 rear. Should be around 450whp...

They should be around 8.5:1. I wanted lower compression so that I can run more boost. I'll make less power before boost come on, but the high stall torque converter should take care of most of that. The 3.4 DOHC has never seemed particularly strong below 3500 rpm on my car anyway. FYI- the turbo I'm running is the T04Z or T67 DBB. It's what Supra guys use for 500 whp on pump gas with quick spool and a decent powerband... The turbine is the same size as the one on there now, but the compressor is much larger and it uses ball bearings.
