  • New track times.. What are you running?

    So i got the monte back to the track, previously i ran a 14.9@98 and now here are my new times.... Seeing 7psi 289hp 277tq @5800ft 74-75* outside all day
    * 14.88@97 2.4-60'
    * 14.513@100.61 2.4-60'
    * 14.509@100.66 2.4-60'
    * 14.386@100.82
    * 20.866@54.27 (LMAO! something was spilled on the track and i spun 1st and 2nd and let off... Felt Strong then spun it would have been definatly my fastest. just cleaned about 2lbs or rubber off my car... It spun big time, rolln more smoke then most of the guys in the burn out box....

    time for a High stall converter and a diff.

    i hope that's at the crank and not the wheels...

    i layed down 241WHP/220 TQ and ran a 14.05 @ 100.96 un-tuned (15.x AFR in PE mode) on street tires.

      thats to the wheels. the track he ran it at is at 5800' and nhra correction factor is about -1 second, so would be around a 13.3 at sea level

        That was at the wheels, stock DOHC's run 17's in colorado. Thin air kills the this motor. It is a torqueless wonder up here. I bought the car in North Dakota and drove it up here, WOW what a difference. Hell even my roomates '86 Olds Delta 88 (3800 V6) felt fast when we drove it to iowa couple years ago, we forgot how much of a difference it was at/near sea level.

        I'm shooting for 12's In Colorado, i think its gunna be hard but feasible. few of the GTP guys broke 12's up here, couple where running squeeze. Im going e85 and about 15psi with HIGH stall converter, lsd gears i think i will be there.

          aah yah, that altitude sucks. I drove through there with my '04 GAGT a few months ago and couldn't believe how it was acting.. haha

            Do you really want to know other people's times, or did you just want to post your own? I'm confused. Anyway, at Pontaic Nationals 3 weeks ago I ran 14.681@94.31, 2.21 60' on street tires. This is .003 off my PB on slicks. Time for headers, heh heh.
            I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

              i would think that altitude wouldnt effect a boosted motor as much as an NA motor.... well i would think also that a SC motor would still be effected cause any pressure of the incoming air will help the sqish effect of the rotors... but a turbo will just spin up until it makes the desired boost right? or is the reduction of oxygen become the issue?

              Oh and for times....
              click the red link for the video if you want... that time was before my gears, suspension, tires, and additional porting on the manifolds. after some more tuning i im aiming for atleast 14.7's might even crack into 14.6.

                just curious what 60's and traps you guys are hitting.

                YES altitude does effect turbo cars just like other cars. the turbo does help compensate for the altitude yes, but still have to consider air density. thin air is always going to be thiner compressed or not. also keep in mind i am launching it as hard as it will go and i am still only getting a 2.45 60'. the turbo doesn't do shit for you until its spooled, until its spooled it still a gutless turd like a NA car at 5800' alt.

                  Turbo cars are still affected by altitude. You will get the same boost once they spool enough, but you'll be running them at a higher pressure ratio which will probably put them in the less efficient range... though if you're using a turbo below its effective pressure ratio you could theoretically gain peak power, though the turbo will take more time to spool to produce the higher pressure ratio.

                        My car has a chip from FFP. A undrive pully. from FFP a motor mount from FFP. Poted and polished intakes and Exhaust manifolds. Coolant bypass is gone. Cold air intake If that does anything. and I have no AC pump And condencer. I rerouted the serp belt. I also have 2.5 inch magnaflow Exhaust on it. And thats about it. I went 14.58 in the begingin of the summer.

                          Cool, I guess W-body cars are quicker with this motor than I thought.

                            best i ran in the 96 at the same track as shane was a 16.8. ran a 17.3 pretty close to stock. i suck, lol.

                            havent ran the 91 yet, but i will as soon as i replace the windshield and get it running right again. thatll have to wait till next season as the second week in october, bandimere pretty much shuts down.
