Couldn't I set the cams to stock settings, then pick a cam, loosen the lock bolt, put my degree wheel on the crank, and rotate the crank the desired degree's for cam settings? So what I should be setting for (96 3.4) is crank rotated 12 deg clockwise for exhaust, and 4 deg clockwise for intake. right?

A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free. -
You can do it that way but you need to somehow hold the cam in position while you're tightening the bolt.
