To me, that's a piss-poor design. There's two, maybe three inches of overhung shaft being pulled on by the belt. Then, a long unsupported section of shaft before the second bearing.

Seems to me that with the load from the belt, the drive shaft would be induced to whip 'n' wobble in the middle; and perhaps fatigue crack on the overhung part.

Redesigning the first bearing housing to reduce the overhang would go a long way toward reducing shaft whip.
Who the hell uses that design anymore?

Kudos to the CSC 3.4L. ODB II swap would have been best though.

thank you. But if you all remembered john lingenfelter's zr1 that was tuned? it was obdI and theres not that many people in the world that do that tuning. sinister performance is doing the tuning. Its a lot of money but this has never been done. one chip tuned with alcohol injection and one with no alcohol. I would have switched to obdII but I get the same tuning at obdI I just pay out more. alot of mods for the sc bracket. I'll keep people informed of what I'm doing. took it out the other day its wicked. never got on it, by the time i got to half throttle it was atleast 50% faster than na. My neighbors hate me, its way too loud. I'm gunna put some better mufflers on it and quiet it down.
