bad news peeps. this chip doesn't work. my car started and cut off. i forgot to ask earlier but do you need the prom id? i think it is bfrs. but i will be happy to guineapig for further attempts .
Ok, it may be that the older memcals aren't compatible as well. I can send you an adapter that piggybacks onto your stock chip. The code I used was BKLL but should just be the updated version of what you are currently using. To make sure, I can send 2 chips with the adapter with instructions for installing them to the adapter board. 1 stock BKLL, and the other with the changed limiters and fan.
sounds good to me. after i'm finished you want the 2 unused chips and the stock chip correct? 2 questions with the piggybacker will the metal cover still be able to be screwed down to protect the electronics or is one that i have to splice and solder in? either way im cool with it.ltr.
I wasn't aware of the VATS, so ill turn that crap off. Im trying to find someone local to do the testing as well since that would make things a lot faster/easier. Yes, I will want the adapter and chips back. After that works I will want to test the memcal again to verify their compatibility (very important). The adapter will let you install the metal cover if you wish. You don't have to install it though for testing....in fact jon ran his all winter so far without that cover! haha, its a good idea to have it on most of the time but its not gonna kill anything to run it like that for a quick test.
sd_iconoclast, so how much do you know? I was planning on modifying the $8F mask to do some neat stuff, but decided to work on the $2E instead.
I have never worked on an ECM before, but I am very familiar with the 68HC11. I have been meaning to start looking into this stuff, but I have not had the time.
I've had a thermomaster chip for some time now. I'm not impressed with it at all. Well I guess its ok, but the rev limiter and the speed limiter are still in effect. Is there some kind of mod that can be done to this chip to get ride of these senarios.
What does the 94 top out at btw? Just curious. I had a 93 that got up to 120 w/ out shutting off and that was stock which surprised me cause my friends 93 cutlass w/ the same engine stopped at 110.
