I know of at least three people that take their cars to 7150rpm. As long as you don't take it that high all day every day, you should be fine.

There is a Fiero guy who runs a 96 motor up to 8000 or 9000, I forget which but either way its had some work done to it. You run a problem with the 91-93 chip that you either have a 7150 limiter or no limiter.

I did take it to 7150, but my bearings gave out. So I got better bearings.

After I rebuild my 95 heads, I will run the engine to 8k, just to see if it makes power and if so how much. But I will not run it there after that. I will still use the 7k redline to avoid problems.

I think your refering to mws? He's since sold it and moved on to the rx7 turbo, last I heard. I believe he was pushing high 7k to low 8k with a custom set of headers, custom plenum, cam timing, and computer tuning. I think the catch is that if you want to go over 7150 then you have to remove the fuel cut all together, on a missed shift...

I rev to 7150 many time daily with no problems.

DKOV is supposedly upping the REV limit to 8 or 9k...but I dunno if his car is done and tested yet.

I dont know if the limit is there for this reason, but rods are only rated at 7k I think

Actually, not to contradict you, but I think he built his own ECM, so it wasn't just computer tuning. After the 5 speed swap on the 91, I have run it to 7100 or so (don't like hitting the limiter when running it out) since 132k I belive (maybe it was 137k). Now it is getting ready to flip 152k, and no problems. The bottom end doesn't sound as good now though, you can literally hear the miles on the engine, especially when running side by side with the 92. I have had the 91 since 89k miles, and have been hard on it about 3/4 of the way to 152k, so it is my fault that it sounds like that. I do have plans on maybe a cheap rebuilt this summer though (rings and bearings, and maybe rehone the block) to take care of the sound. My friend thinks it is the cat making all the noise, not the bottom end, cause my cat is shot and makes a ratteling sound. I was supposed to be getting a welder recently again, and that deal fell through which really pissed me off because the first thing I was going to do with it is get rid of that cat.

And technically I count as two people since I have two cars, lol.

I'd be the third, but my car isn't running.

                    Again.

I also went in for a cheap rebuild, came out 2600$ later, 3100 counting clutch.
