  • Poor performance due to bad fuel?

Everytime I fill up at a shell here in Denver Colorado, my engine begins to intermittently misfire causing the check engine idiot light to come on. However, once I run the tank empty and fill up anywhere but a shell, the performance comes back and the symptoms go away promptly.

Is this an issue with Shell fuel? or am I over-looking something.

Sounds like it to me. Maybe they have water in their gas? I would avoid that station regardless, unless the missfire/etc comes back from some other station.

I have tried at least 3 different Shells in the local area...

Not to suggest any pattern *sarcasm*

Is there any way I can test a small sample?

thats weird...shell usually has the best gas, but it does sound like it. try going to a conoco. diamond shamrock is supposed to be crappy, but i never have any problems with it.

I know whats going on here, try swappin out your fuel filter and or check your feul pressure... I had some bitch dump oil and antifreeze into my tank so you might wanna check for that sorta thing too.
