  • OBDII Swap?

    So. Im getting ready to start the OBDII stuff to do the conversions to a 1996 z34 monte harness and computer so i can actually tune my car. Who has done the swap and what should i know about it. Also does anyone know if the harness that plugs to the firewall is the same or different then the 1995 OBDI harness plug? anything special that needs to be done to remove and replace the harness (burried wires, remove heads, anything)? Any sensors have to be changed or added? Any help would be greatly apprecaited. Ohh.. and i am running all the 1995 DOHC heads/intake ect.. just wanting to swap the harness and computer.

    The C100 is very different for every form of OBD. Get a hold of brianteel on clubgp, he can make you a spreadsheet showing you what you need to change.
    I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

      Shane,

      I was working on this for a while. I made up spreadsheets for the 96 and 97 harnesses. I haven't yet done it though. You will need to add a knock sensor and a different EGR (or disable it in the computer). The C100 has slightly different wiring, but it shouldn't be too hard to swap. My excel sheet is based off of info from Brian Teel and a bunch of wiring diagrams that I found. Some of the diagrams are a bit generic and may not have been 100% correct, but the info should be very close. Feel free to give me a call sometime if you'd like to discuss it. I also have a DHP PowerTuner that it setup for the 96 and 97 Z34.

        ok so "c100" is the computer system? as for the wiring most harness itself how many hours would you expect it to take a actual mechanic that is familiar with the cars and has all the wiring diagrams... It is something i don't think i want to get myself into, the way some of the wires are ran under other things would just frustrate me....

            OK, so i found a 1996 Monte Carlo Z34 harness and computer. It should be on its way by monday. i found a yard in OR. that has a complete car. So it looks to me i have a doner car and the guy is shipping all parts to me. I called allot of other yards and non of them that had a uncut harness would ship it. WTF?!?! guess they don't want to make money.. Best part is the ECU and harness uncut is only $130 shipped

            I think i am going to try swapn it myself... Most likely 1/2 way threw the swap i will get pissed and tow it to my buddies shop and pay him to do it.

              anyone know if i have to swap the brake pump and booster like i read for the 3100 cars in this post.
