  • Intermediate Shaft Bearings // How to clock?

Hi, I wasn't sure if this belonged in the Performance or Maintance section.

I'm currently rebuilding my '93 LQ1. I'm at the point where I need to reinstall the Intermediate shaft bearings. I've read about these being installed incorrecly (espically the #2 bearing) and causing engine failure. I have the GM tech book, but it dosen't mention how to clock them (orient their rotation in relation to the centerline). Is this info false? Can I just install them at any position? I looked at the block and bearings, the #2 on the block side seems to have a full grove cut in the block to allow oil to flow to the passage above, but I could be wrong.

    Any help is appericated, Thanks!

your observations on the the block are correct, there is a groove.
if I remember correctly, the book I have (GM Big ass Book) is like a 4:30 clock position.
i can not verify that is the reason my front head froze (lack of oil).
but that is what the 2nd machine shop guy said. he rebuilt it with the holes more lined up than what the book says to do.
Car has about 10k on new rebuild.
