And I stil cant find why my car is misfiring n/a on all 6. Every thing Iv checked looks fine. Would an autotap help in this case find the problem. Car came with 100k on it and I put 30K hard hard miles on the car and it knows. Im on my 4th tranny and 3rd set of tires. My rings are worn out and its only pulling -11 psi at idling and bobbys is pulling over -18. Time for a new motor and new car.

Rebuild it and put it in the back of a Fiero? Gapless riiiings...
You know you want the manual 5 speed of getrag goodness hooked up to your LQ1.
You wouldn't have to worry about making a cowl to hide it from the wind anymore, either.
Not to mention your car would have lots of fanboys. Er... not that I would be one of them. Coughcough.87 Fiero GT

lol I was thinking about doing a fiero swap. I have driven a 86gt befor and they are light as hell. It needed brake work. I could not stop that car quick if my life depended on it. It would definitely be fast. If I got it to make some sick torq I might even get the front wheels off the ground.

The 84-87 cars are a little bit of an abortion as far as the brakes go. With that powerplant, you might be best off preparing to go with at least a mild upgrade before you even run it, or just buy an 88.
Get some slicks on there, turn up the boost, and I'll bet you could lift the front wheels. That's a pretty elite crowd, too. I can almost count on one hand the fieros that I believe will pull their front wheels off the track. There are only (non-photoshopped) pictures/movies of two or maybe three cars doing it.
This is kinda backwards from normal engine swap talk, isn't it? :P87 Fiero GT

soo what codes are coming out of the computer?? it the misfire intermittent? or is it a random cyl misfire?
some times it turns out to be a reference problem from the crank sensor, wiring with high resistance and such, one time i found a cracked flywheel, that fucked up the crank reference to the computer. A bad harmonic balancer could be a suspect too.
i've been meaning to ask you what the compression ratio is one the engine and how your controlling your ignition timing.

300 random/multiple cyl mis
I am waching it on my laptop it does it at 2600 rpm in park and in gear under hevy load in 3rd and 4th 1000-1800 rpm. I think its my TQ. Gm put a bulletin out there on that. If its not that it has to be electrical.Last edited by Dave96z34; 11-10-2006, 08:02 PM.

hhhmmm ransom cyl misfire eh??? im wondering if its ignition or fuel related. Is the car still using a MAP sensor? or is it mass air flow setup? im pretty sure you wouldn't be able to use a MAP setup because of boost.
for your ignition timing to be jumping around so much thres gotta be a problem with an input sensor somewhere..

Its obd2 it has to have them both. For shits and gigels im going to run the l67 timing table for fun.

Dave,
My company is sending me out to your are the week of December 11th for training. I use HP Tuners on my car, but the process is pretty much the same. I don't know a ton about forced induction, but I do know how to get timing and fueling doen pretty well. If you need help tuning still, let me know, I could always fly out a day early and we could work on your car over the weekend before that Monday.I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

OldSkoolGP,
I had not really planned on putting it on till spring but it only takes 3-4 hours to do alone. I will have to check with Dave to see if he is going to have a car in the shop that weekend. If you gave me a hand it would go realy quick.
I will see what can be done. I would be very grateful.
torq455,
lol the blower never gets got. The hottest it ever felt was after sitting in the sun. It stays vary cool. The air flow keeps the casting cold.Last edited by Dave96z34; 11-17-2006, 11:10 PM.
