  • rusty ERG mounting bracket

I had the hood off my 95 z34 and the mounting bracket that connects the EGR valve to the ?plennum is rusting...
    question is:

Is that rust going to continue into the motor? Am I F'd or what?

I am going to replace it in 2 weeks when the garage is available and the car is on its last ride before the engine rebuild.
    95 MC Z34 Black
Running strong with new engine, transmission, brakes and suspension.

Hey I've got some experience with alloys. The plennum is cast aluminum it can't rust. It could corrode from chemical contact.... but the only chemical I know of in your car that can do this is old coolant (another reason to keep you coolant fresh, change it once a year, even the "longlife" stuff). But any how, the steel plate with the holes that attaches to the exhaust pipe, that part will rust but nothing to worry about.

But I think what you are seeing is just a burnt exhaust film looks kind of rusty colored and goes down inside the EGR hole. I wouldn't worry thought.
