Dun dun dun..... I replaced my fuel filter (GOD was it rusty!), something I suggest everyone to do... Took all of 15 minutes with minimal fuel loss (unlike my camaro, which drown me in 1/2 gallon of fuel). Anywho, when I started it back up, I noticed what sounded like an air leak... I traced it back, and looks like it's coming from my brake booster hose, which is a little loose, and a *HUGE* vacuum leak from the EGR base area. I spray intake cleaner around it, and the rpm's jump like crazy! F#cking egr! I swear, this is like the 2nd gasket set I bought for it... Moral of the story: vacuum leaks are the devil. I bet this is where my idle miss was coming from. Now I just gotta figure out what to do about it... I think I need to have the hole welded shut.
Okay now, that's enough of that.

Just blocked off the EGR, sealing the leak... Took it for a test drive, and it is worse than ever! It wants to stall everytime I slow down to a stop.

Did you let it sit and let the ECM relearn how to run the engine all over again? If not, pull the ECM fuse for 10 seconds, put it back in, turn the ign. on for 5 seconds (don't start the engine), turn off for 5 sec., turn back on for 5 sec., and start, and let idle for about 10-15 minutes. Then drive around for a while to let the ECM relearn.

BTW, what color is the top of your injectors? The top 1/4 or so is grey on mine, which I have heard is the $700 injector option in question, and my car still stalled for a while there.

Well I did it differently... I disconnect the battery and take it for a short drive. I've never heard of the ignition on/off technique... What does it actually do? Here's a pic of my old injectors... the new ones I put in from the 94 look identical, except there are 2 little bands on the top that are different colors (I forget at the moment). I always assumed they were different flow ratings, but the inj. cleaning shop told me otherwise. Here's a pic.

The ign. on/off is the IAC relearn, or idle relearn as some people call it. I do belive those are the same exact injectors in both of my cars. I might have time to take pics of both cars tomorrow, *might*. If I can, I will post them here.

What I usually do is ground the ALDL port, wait 45 sec, then disconnect/reset the ecm. I know that bottoms out the IAC so it knows where it is.. I always thought whenever it was running it was constantly learning how to run/idle the engine.. I'll give yours a shot anyways, nothing to lose. btw - those new $700 injectors could look the same in every way, but have different internals... something to think about.

here is a ***GREAT*** article I just found offering some insight into perhaps why it stalls at closed throttle conditions!!!

What a stupid system... I bet that's why they changed to MAF in 94...

I am going on what I have read lately on the subject. I do agree though, they could be different on the outside, but I would imagine GM would make them look differnt somehow so they could be easily identified at a glance. I could be wrong though.

Ok, so there is a second way I have heard of idle relearn. Wanna hear number 3 I have heard? It came with the new IAC I put in the 91 a few years ago. Get up to 50 mph and hold it there steady on flat ground for a minimum of a mile so the IAC will reset. The method I said earlier works fine for my cars so I use it.

I just posted a log in Computer Tuning, anyone knowledgeable in that area is welcome to speculate as to what's happening...

Hey hess, have you had time to take it to your local GM dealer and let a "drivablity expert" ride w/ you? You'll save a lot of time and it's free. Took me about 20 min., I showed the guy the tsb for the injectors, told him everything we replaced, and he knew immediatly what the problem was. Save yourself some time.

ours does the same thing does replacing the IAC help? Or is it pointless?
