I need help my timing belt brokat like 5k rpms the other day. Can i get away with just changing the belt? I was told the 96 is interfernece and i mosst likely wiped my valves out but ive also heard they have huge valve reliefs in the 96 Lq1 pistons ALSo i need the instructions on how to change the belt HELP ME PLEASE

Ok not saying your wrong droptop but ONLY THE 1996 3.4DOHC I am hearing is interference I need to hear from someone who had there belt on a 19996 fail then replaced it and it not damage valves now is not the time for a mistake its too much shit to take apart with not alot of time so PLEASE ALL INPUT POSSIBLE PLEASE

OK, I stand corrected. I still do not think it is an interference motor. I've heard of people blowing belts at around 5-6K RPMs and no valve damage.
Ben is the guru of these motors, what does he have to say about it?

Well #2 and 5 have no compression wich mean that my engine was indeed interfernece and that the repair is big $$$$ so i need some info
where can i get a gasket kit cheap
where can i get head bolts cheap
does the engine need to be removed to take the heads off?
