For those who remember my "LQ1 vs. Frag Grenade" thread, here's the teardown pics.
The car started first pull, and I was trying to limp it into the garage when I heard a sound like a gunshot and a ringing noise. The motor stalled hard, and wouldn't turn over again.
Pushed 'er into the garage, and with a friend's help, shattered my "Engine-Out" Fiero record. 1.5hrs start-to-finish until the engine was out on the ground.
After pulling the carrier off, we noticed one valve sitting lower than the others, like it was jammed open. We pulled the LIM off and shined a light into it.
Something glinted on top of the valve...
What the... that can't be... Is that...
Holy shit, it is... A chunk of piston ring jammed in there?
Well, that'd explain the noise... Pulled the head off.
