I have a problem, a coolant leak. Now because I'm new to the LQ1 I'm not that familiar with common places to spring a coolant leak, so you can imagine I'm thinking the worst.
Earlier today when I got home from work I noticed a slight white smoke coming from under the hood, by the time I got the hood open it was gone, I just figured it was my exhaust (cold day here in London, Ont) Thinking its not a big deal I go out for dinner with my girlfriend, when we get to the restaraunt (not 10km away) the smoke is now plumbing from the engine and my engine temp is running REALLY high, not quite in the red, but climbing. I shut off the car and pop the hood, White smoke everywhere and I smell antifreeze. I also heard a very loud hissing sound coming from the drivers side of the engine. So I have to ask, what could this be? I know the list is probably endless but I'm hopping someone can at least narrow it down by telling me its unlikely I cracked my block or heads. The hissing sound was one you would expect to hear from high pressure steam coming from a split hose (note the upper rad hose was in tact, the sound was coming from the rear of the engine bay)
I had the car towed to the garage where I get all my work done, but they won't be open till monday, and its my only way to work. I'm hoping someone here can give me something to get them to look at.
