  • 91 Ignition Wiring

Well I had been noticing a faint puff of smoke coming from the steering column the last 2 times I had driven the z (2 times in the past 6 months). Well finally this weekend I decided to take it out for a drive again. The battery is charged, tried to turn it over, click, nothing. I initially had power to turn on the accessories, was resetting the computer and noticed some smoke again from the ignition. Now I can not get anything. Is there a resistor in the column that powers the entire car like the 97+ GPs that could have burnt up? I had the column apart at one point and know the wires themselves that power all the signals, wipers, etc are not fried. So it is definately something in the ignition itself.

    Thanks
