  • TIMING BELT PICS

Upon removing my water pump I decided to take some pics of my timing belt. I owned the car for aprox. four years, and I have put on about 75,000Km. When I purchased the car I was told that the belt and timing was recently done that was at 155,000K
Engine runs 100% tip-top. With exception from coolant flow problem.
Judging from these pics how does it look?[/img]

Looks fine to me. Although the pics on the side-view are a hair blurry.

Look for cracking on the narrow spaces between and under the teeth.

As for the top, as long as it doesn't look scuffed or worn (indicating bad tensioner) marks.

If at any point on the belt you have fibers sticking out (either on the sides or the top) replace it immediately, as it's starting to come apart internally.

Looks good to me. I don't see any significant wear, although that doesn't really mean a thing. Do you know when it was changed before you purchased the vehicle? If I were you, I would look into getting it changed out sometime this spring/summer.
