  • Whining sound at 1200 - 1500 RPMs

All, I have 95 3.4L Olds rag top which I love to death. Car runs good, but at about 1200 to 1500 or so RPMs , when I hit the gas I get a whining sound coming from the engine and can feel some vibration on the gas pedal.

Not sure what is wrong....also seems at times I dont have enough power on the car...maybe due to this sound. The sound comes out at any gear as long as I am in the RPM range and hit the gas.....trans shifts smoooth......

    thanks,

The sound is not from the power steering pump. The steering is ok.

Also note a correction to the issue : I hear the noise at 2000 to 2400 RPMs...not 1200rpms..

      Thanks,
