  • Sevice Engine Soon

As soon as I get my car started my SES light comes on. If I push the brake in even far enough to turn on the brake lights the SES light clears. When I release the brake the light comes back. There is about a 2 sec delay between the brake on/off and SES light on/off. I have looked but can't find a way they could be connected unless it's from the low traction buisness. The brake pads are new and it has plenty of fluid btw. Thanx for any info. Oh... its in a 95 Monte. Might help a little.

Probably something with the ABS. A code reader is about the only way you will know what it is.

I was looking into getting a scanner anyway. I thought the program for the palm looked cool. Has anyone tryed it at all? Will it even work on a 95 Monte? When I had it scanned before they used a OBD2 scanner so I ASSUME its OBD2 but I read here that there is a 1.5 type thing as well. Dont want to waste $250 and it be worthless to me.. LOL!!

Its not OBD2. Its OBD1 and efi-live supports it but thats 180 bucks now. Actually, efi-live doesn't officially support it and I don't think the file brian sent me has all the codes in it either.
