  • Availability of camshaft endplate, taper seat cog hardware

Are the camshaft thrust plates/end plates still available from GM? Anyone have a part number? I found a hairline crack in mine when assembling my motor. Now I have found it to be bent. I want to get a new one.
Also, for the 94-95 style cam cogs.. Are new taper rings available from GM? Part number? I dont need the bolt or cog, just the taper ring.

Taper rings are available, I know I priced one out at my dealer for under $10.

Why don't you just get the end plates at the junkyard?

The end plates area available from GM. I broke mine while tearing apart the engine. Just go in and have them pull up the engine diagrams on the computer. Or just ask for the camshaft thrust plate. They should understand what you need.

        Thanks guys!

Here are the part numbers in case anyone else needs them.

        RING: 10162073 LIST: $6.48 YOUR PRICE: $4.24
        PLATE: 24504394 LIST: $14.55 YOUR PRICE: $9.55

I sent an email to an online GM parts dealer (partszoneonline.com) and they sent these back. Cool!

LQ1s are pretty rare. More than once I've spent an entire day going to every junkyard I know of in the Bay Area without finding a single one. Its not worth it if the new parts are cheaper than the gallons of gas I'd use up looking.. not to mention the time.
