  • Main Seal leak

My car here within the last two weeks has been leaking a little bit of oil. I took it to the last place i had my oil changed at to make sure that everything was tightened down and all. They guy there told me that the main seal was leaking, he said that it was very common on all chevys. My uncle is a mechanic and he says that it also is extremely common on these motors. Is this a big thing to worry about or can i just add a little oil here and there. Again it is a small leak but will it probably turn into a big leak? Thanks

    RE: Main Seal leak

well personally i have never seen a 3.4l dohc have a main seal leak, i work at a gm dealership and have owned 5 3.4l dohc's, it is more than likely your oil pump drive o-ring, it will leak down the back of the bellhousing and can look like a main seal leak, but i highly doubt it is.
