I think that goes to the purge solenoid.

What are the wire colors? Better chance of telling you what it is.

Im betting on pink with a black stripe, and green with yellow stripe. It's the canister purge. I'm pretty sure it's the only red connector on the whole car, except maybe at the ECM sometimes...

I was thinking (hoping) that it is the low oil sensor plug.
                wires are brown and white.

my oil lamp stays on during startup........

where the hell is that sensor, must be on the pan?,

maybe a pressure sensore plug on the block?

                      mystery solved

this plug is used on pontiacs for the power steering pump. I guess it is a low oil sensor.

I didn't know the older ones had it too. Must have sume test purpose or gm would have wasted the $. But yeah I think I have seen a 97 with a ps fluid level sensor.

The plug was utilized on (at least) 1 Pontiac 1995 LQ1, it went into a sensor adapter on top of power steering pump.

Unrelated, the car also had the 2nd gear start switch.

I took the hood levours and will install onto my 95 MC Z34 hood.

I think there is another mystery plug on the drivers side as well, maybe for tuning or fuel pump?

Definetly the variable power steering setup. The 95 cutlass convertible has that power steering setup as well but I didn't know they had the wiring for it even if the car isn't equipped with that pump. Odd.

The red wire on the driver side is a test lead for the fuel pump (connect it to power, it runs the pump).
