  • 1996 3.4L DOHC Timing Belt Tools?

Hi all...im new here and Im very thankfull I stumbled across this site. The timing belt in my Monte Carlo starting shredding away. Timing was lost and there are absolutely NO timing marks...my luck of course. I now have it tore down and ready for the new belt. The wall I have ran into is the tools. Where is my best bet to find the 2 tools I need to finish the timing job (the Cam Flat Lockdown and the sprocket holder) I hope im saying them right...any ideas?

    Thanks!

For the sprocket holder, som people have had sucess using channel locks. Personally, I would buy the right tool and know its right.

The cam flat tool however is NOT worth buying. You can make one easy enough, either the type that bolts down like stock

Or you can cut a piece of metal that is slightly larger than the width of the single cam flat...and the height from the cam flat to the top of the cam carrier. This is what i have, but I dont have a dial caliper now to meaure it precise enough to help.
