Either would be fine. There are loads of things available for BB and SB Chevys and not much else in aftemarket. Any chance those fit a 60*V6?

My main question is will a '96-'97 starter fit on my 1992?

I belive that starters from all of the 3x00 engines with GR starters on FWD cars will fit... At least that's what I have been told. Hold on to your recipt just in case

The late 3X00 starters are not gear reduction. They are a lot smaller than the early ones, but they are still direct drive. They used more efficient motors to make them smaller, but produce more torque than the early ones. The only difference I am aware of between the starters is the terminals are slightly different sizes, which might require some slight wire mods.

I have read of people using the SBC starters, but I am not sure how much modification it takes to fit. Are you looking to the smaller starters to lose weight, or to increase cranking torque?

                Both are positives for me.
