  • bogging at wot

it seems like from a stop if i give it full or close to full throttle it bogs for about 2-4 sec then goes and not all that impressivly either, but if i go 3/4 throttle it takes off fine. im pretty sure it does it at all the time but am not certain. Any ideas on what would cause this??? Thanks.

    RE: bogging at wot

What year? How long has it been doing this?

That's odd, sounds alot like my car (95 GTP). It almost seems like full throttle is worse than like 1/2 throttle. I have a feeling my tranny is to blame though If there is a problem with the DOHC that would cause it to do this I would be interested in knowing too.

bad MAF, bad MAP, bad TPS, etc. Really need a scan tool to sort things out fast but yeah, im leaning more towards MAF for a 94-95 without really scanning the computer.

92 lumina dont really see how the tranny would cause the engine to bog because it shifts fine and hasnt had any other problems and i have new tps, iac, plugs, wires, filter, no air leakes that i know of, i used brake cleaner around the plenum to check for leaks. i belive it has done it since i got it, i only started driving it about a mounth ago but it had sat for about 4-5 mounths but had been run and moved 2-3 times a week.

Id check your wiring and your grounds. Perhaps a coil pack is going out as well, though that would be more RPM based than throttle based. Could also be your fuel pump or filter or injectors. Id start checking the fuel system out first, then coil packs, and then wiring/grounds.

Sorry birdman, I was refering to my car not yours. I'm 90% sure that my tranny is going to die within the next couple weeks or so. I don't think having to rev it to 7000 RPM's to get it to lock up is great...... Sappy, what would happen if I just disconnected the MAF, I know it would run and all, but would it show me any signs that the MAF might be partially to blame for the problem with my car? Also, somewhat related, when I just coast with my car, at low speeds the car acts very odd... something else I would like to fix.... the RPM's jump up and down for no reason and I don't even have my foot on the pedal... it's not just the tach though as I can feel it jerking. I was however thinking that maybe the TPS could be bad, and now that you stated it might be to blame for the loss of power at WOT, it sounds even more like it could be somewhat of a problem.

It would resort to get pissed off and not running right. You need either a scanner or another MAF to see if its the MAF, unless someone else has a way to check it out. If you are anywhere near me, I can scan it for you and see whats up.

just had a similar problem on a 2.8 - btu it got worse till it wouldn't start - was dumping tons of fuel into the car to the point where i could full the fuel pump fuse and the engine would start and run for 30 seconds. turned out the ecm was dead - swapped another ecm in and it ran fine again.

i played with it today and it does it at all speeds but its less noticable at speed because im already moving. ive also just replaced the coils and icm twice with ones from the junkyard because of a slight missing problem at an idle and each time they were replaced it made no difference at all. until now i havent really put the idea together that it might be related. i know that at an idle it seems to misses sparaticaly only on cyl 3 but cant figure out why. what grounds should i check because that was a thought of mine but didnt know where to start. Thanks.

im not sure if this makes a difference but it just hit me today that i dont think it bogs when in park and push it to the floor. is that somthing that would narrow down the possibilitys?? Thanks.
