I have a 93 z34, I had another engine in it that blew so I got this engine I have now, but it seemed to run kinda bad, sounds and missing power fromt he other engine so i took it to star chev. I know a guy up there and he checked it out for me. I thought it might of been the T-postion sensor but he said it was out if time and the belt was lose. so I asked him how much for the new parts and to get it retimed, he said under the table be could do it for 400. I think this is a rather good price, but I am kinda new to these engines I understand they have 4 cams so it is alot of work in it. He said the belt would cost in the area round 100, and the pulleys round like 75. These are oem parts and I guess would be the best thing to use. Well ne thoughts on the price or other parts would be great thanks. !!

RE: Good price for retiming or should i keep looking
You will want a new belt, 2 idler pullies, 1 tensioner pulley, and a tensioner. If your belt is loose, something is fucked so replace it all. 250 bucks is a good estimate on parts. I charge 300 to do a timing belt plus parts so yeah, thats a good price as long as he knows how to time it properly. If you want to do yourself a favor, have it timed 6 degrees advance intake and 6 degrees retarded exhaust. It is much nicer than stock timing with a smooth idle as well.Ben
