  • injectors??

are the injectors from a older multi port setup different from the newer sfi?
In the summer i did an engine swap from my older engine to a 95 and it runs like crap. it has a sudden loss of power and acts like its out of gas or sometimes just jumps around when i push on the gas... any suggestions would help.

left_34, where in MN are you from?

The injectors should be the same through the years on the DOHC.

There is a difference I believe (may have changed for 96 tho), I dont remember exactly what though, maybe just a # higher?

I'm using 97 dohc injectors in my 91 (91 computer) and it runs just fine. (except for right now cause I have no spark!)

i just dont know really what it could be. also to start the car i need to step on the gas and it takes awhile to get it to start. then after it starts its realy doggy and ihave to let it warm up for a while.

            You might have leaky injectors.

On the topic of injectors does anyone know of anyone who makes large dual spray pattern injectors. Because I am in the midst of alittle R&D on a twin turbo setup and I am fairly doubtful the OE injectors will be up to the task. I am going to pursue this project more actively once I get my other car out of my garage. I guess my other question would be what is the exact flowrate of the factory injectors.

Not yet, everything is kind of in the design stages right now. The plan is to go RWD, by installing a full frame with the corvette Dana 44. The track width is fairly close. Hopefully within the next year I'll be getting another daily driver so this one can go under the knife. Until then I have my 77 Regal that needs to get out of the garage first. I am trying to get everything worked out the best that I can now, so it will go alittle smoother when it gets underway. About 6 months ago when I was at school I had an instructor that had done some fairly intense buildup on one of these. They did a billet block girdle, crank, rods. He had worked in pretty well to do race shop with all the CNC equipment. So I am kind of going off some of the stuff he did, unfortunatly I can't find any of the stuff I wrote down in from our discussion. So as soon as work does begin I'll let you know. Also part of the problem is coming up with the funds for it, as is with all projects.

Are you sure the stock LQ1 injectors are 23#? I'm thinking I might ened new injectors, gonna have the whole frekaing thing diagnosed by a shop near my dad's work and if the injectors ar ebad I'm gonna be getting some performance injectors.

Why? Stock injectors should support up to 300hp.

Someone told me that performance injectors would increase performance... but I'm really more concerned with my stalling problem and that bulletin about the phantom stalls at idle / high load. They said that Accel injectors fixeed it for him, but I just found that Accel sells stock replacements, I'm just wondering if they're the same spec as the revised ones GM sells...

I don't see how injectors themselves can improve performance. I could see them helping if your motor is struggling for fuel, but not on a stock/mostly stock motor. I would say get stock replacements.
