I had the most trouble trying to get the hose off of the heater core behind the rear head. It was "glued" to the heater core pipe. dykz34 had a good idea by using the heater hose. Thats bound to make working in that area easier. aka alternator removal. That bolt behind the alt is bitchy too.

Try a heater core in a 95 T-bird w/ a 4.6 SOHC V8. I did one about a month ago. The entire dash had to come out. Center console, steering column, plastic dash shell, metal "structure work" of dash I guess you could say. When I say the entire dash, I mean the entire dash, then the heater box had to come out too. That was about as much fun as the head gaskets in the same car I did this past summer. Give me anything on a DOHC to do for a day over working on that stupid thing F#$% calls a car. I would almost rather do another auto to 5 speed swap again over those two items above.

He's right, I've got mine down to less than an hour. Just remove the tire, disconnect the tie rod, the axel heat sheild, the little peice of rubber, undo the bolts for that lower coolant pipe and pull it up out of the way and tie it thier, loosen the bolt to the sub frame and shim it down and that will give you lots of room. I do however recommend buying a set of those stubby gear wrenches. Helped a shit load those alt. bolts are hard to deal with.
