  • 91-93 alt wire removal

i was going to sell my 94 and keep my recently acquired 93 but this car is bass ackwards compared to my 94.

on a 94, the plug is on the bottom and the main wire on the top all pretty easy to get to. on this godforsaken 93 the plug is on the top and the tab to loosen the connector is practically in accessable but i managed that.

and the alt wire is on the bottom and i am guessing the downpipe has to come off to get to the retaining nut. is that correct?

come on 91-93 owners, a little insight plz. and a bit of advice if you get another one get a 94.

No you definitely do not have to touch the downpipe. Once you get the 3 bolts out of the alternator (or 2 in my case since the previous owner didn't put the bastard one back in...good call), you just drop it down enough to get at the plug and positive lead. I'm assuming that you have removed the axle and axle shield here?
