Anyone have a 97 egr valve handy. Need to check the actual plunger in the valve. Mine's loose and easy to push in. Like it only has a light spring holding it seated. This normal?

Yes, that is normal. It's when the plunger is hard to move is there a problem.-Sean

Thanks. I put it back on and assumed it was. Car was running fine. I've been out of the automotive profession about 6 years and out of the tune up/driveability side of it about 8 years.
