  • Turns and turns.... No fire

So I finally got the entire engine assembled in my 95 Monte and when I finally got to start it it fired for a second and then stalled. Now it wont fire at all. This is the stuff I already checked:
    - All 3 coil pack primary/ secondary coils
    - Battery voltage at ignition module
    - Trigger signal at ignition module
    - Fuel pressure at fuel rail (Just pushed the vent valve)
    - 7x crank sensor from ignition module
    - Replaced fuel filter
    - Double checked spark plug wires

The car has brand new head gaskets, sparkplugs, and wires. I have moved the ignition module to the right fender well (I double checked that). I can double check the timing but I doubt it jumped. I have double checked all the sensors and they are connected. You can see why I am at a loss for the problem. If anyone has a suggestion on what else I can check I would appreciate it. Just to repeat, the engine started for about a sec (literaly) then stalled. Will not refire....
    THANX!!

RE: Turns and turns.... No fire

why don't you holding down the gas peddal while cranking. that will cut of the fuel comming in to the engine and force it to use what is allready in the engine.

Is there spark at the spark plugs? plug a known good plug into a wire. ground out the body of the plug and crank it. See if there is any secondary voltage.

Finally got her running. I guess I had messed up the timing a little because the front cams had fallen 90 degrees behind the rear cams. Redid the timing and got it done.... HOWEVER.... There is a lot of top end noise. This makes no sense to me since the heads where completely rebuilt by a machine shop, the lifters were in good shape, and the cams were perfect. It only ran for a few minutes because I was afraid of damage. When I crawled under the car to look around I saw a nice size oil leak. It was coming from the oil pump O-ring. Will a leak this bad reduce the oil pressure to the engine enough to not allow the lifters to pressurize? I will begin removing the upper and lower intake manifold on thurs afternoon. I hope to be able to replace the O-ring without removing the rear engine bank. (I HOPE, I HOPE, I HOPE!!) I think I have the ring on hand from a complete gasket set however I'm not sure how the ring looks. Can anyone post a picture of a new one for comparison? I know this is a lot of questions but I need to get this beast done and ready to drive to Chicago in about 3 weeks. Thanx for your help!!

Not again! This needs to be documented and photographed. And put on the front page. http://www.60degreev6.com/index.php?...ewtopic&t=5822

Thanx for the link. O-ring questions answered. Maybe it can be added under the DOHC section, like the alt change. Seems like a good idea.
ANy ideas on if the leak will affect oil pressure to the lifters enough to not let them pressurize in a reasonable amount of time?

It took almost 10 minutes for my lifter tick to go away after changing the head gaskets. I was worried too, but it went away.
