    ok what year do I ask for a chevy Distributor Gasket ?

    Then do I just cut a slit in the gasket and work it around the shaft, put in permatx bolt down ?

      Any chevy distributor gasket will do, they are all the same size. Do just as you said. Allow it to set overnight before you fire it back up so the sealer dries.

        don't you have to remove the plug completely to use a distributor gasket?

          I think they are saying I cut the gasket to get it around the shaft. This way I dont have to remove the whole thing, and then I guess I just put in extra sealent where it was cut.

          Correct me if i am wrong

            You just slice it and fish it around the plug. Be liberal with your sealer and ensure that all surfaces are coated.

                yes the shaft end at and the opening on the block should have been tapered to easily form a solid seal - flat on flat is not an easy thing to seal
