  • Did lowers and tried to fix Oring..still got oil.please help

    All,

Ok, so I did a lower intake gasket fix. All went well. I saw the o-ring location and put JB weld over is as suggested in some of the posts.

Now oil still leaks. It seems to old leak when the car is in gear. When the car is running in park I see no oil drip. Its dripping kinda bad towards the back of the engine.
Here is what I plan to do, if you have any ideas/suggestions I would appriciate it :

    1. Wash engine with degreaser,
    2. Start car and see if I can determine the location of the leak.

Anyone got any ideas on what it might be ? Its getting hot in chicago and I wanna drive my convertible......
I am mad as hell but dont wanna give this ride up...its so sweet and turns heads all the time...please give me some ideas, clues etc.....things to do.

    Year 95, 3.4L Engine

    thanks,
    ~S

Did you raise the cap up first and then clean it all up, and then use the JB weld? If not, you might need to get back in there and get the old jb weld off and do it again. Other than that, I dunno what else would be leaking that bad if its coming from the top of the motor somewhere. Degreasing and then checking to make sure is the best idea though right now just in case it is coming from somewhere else.

what I did was get a hightemp o-ring..

after cleaning the plug with brake cleaner real good I then stretched the o-ring over the top of the plug, lifted the plug and slipped the o-ring arounf th emain shaft - then added some liquid gasket sealer, and tightened it down just as if it was a compression gasket..

The best product to use, is an anorobic sealer. (it drys when confined) Loctite "Gasket Eliminator 510" http://www.loctite.us/int_henkel/loc...sp_language=en

Just raise it up as far as you can and clean under it. Then work some gasket elinator under it. Turning it to make sure you get it all the way around. Permatex gasket maker works to (its a brown-black paste. comes in a can with an aplicator brush) I had to trim the corner off just a little to allow raising it up.
