  • motor/trans mounts

I was just curious if anybody has changed their motor/transmission mounts on their own. If so how long did it take. Also I was just wondering about any problems in doing so. Any tips would be apreciated.

Front top mount is easy, you may have to push the motor some.
I had to take the lower rear mount on the P-side, the axle goes through it and that had to be pulled. Then I pulled the whole engine and the front lower mount was easy. Now I have to pull the tranny and it's mount.

Guess if you don't pull the engine you will need a support or jack up the engine.

I dont have my repair manual on hand at this moment but I remember it saying that there is some kind of specific jack to lift the motor. I cant find anywhere to rent it from. I am just curious if anybody knows how it works.
I would prefer to not remove the motor at this time. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

all you really need is ramps or jack stands to get the car in the air

a nice block of wood to spread out the load on the oilpan and jack up one end at a time - don't undo all the mounts at once or you may run into major issue getting things to line up later as well as the engine being less stable in the air.
