  • How much oil does the 3.4 take?

I have a 1991 Grand Prix GTP, with the 3.4l v6. I am in the middle of changing the oil, but I don't know how much to add. So how much oil does it take to fill it up? thx

i added 5 quarts, but it still reads about 1 qt low?

really? i think i only ever put 5 qts max into my 2.8, but the dohc motor has to pump it through more stuf, further to go and more to do for the oil so it makes sense you'd need more.

6qts usually does it for my 3.4L DOHC

5.5 Liters cold and drained down. Or 6 Liters warm and pumped up.

You have an oil cooler though. So, definatily 6 Liters.

Depends on the size of the filter too.

No I don't have a dipstick, I was reading the oil level with a Thermal Imaging Camera

How much you pay for that there camera? :P 6 quarts totally empty. Normal filter. I change mine religiously. A case of GTX does it.... uh....(lemme cypher this)...Twice! Had to use the Abacus. (By the time this thread is done, it will be time for another oil change.)
