  • TPS Problems

I replaced my TPS today and now my car idles up around 2k rpms. I put the old one back on and it idled back at 900 rpm.

When i put it on it wouldnt go straight on, I had to slightly twist the sensor to get it to go on. I dont know if this has anything to do with the problem or not, but I had to do the same thing on the old TPS.

Also I read on here that you can adjust the TPS. Is this true and how do I do it?

    Thanks,
    Chris

    2.8 fiero i take it?

hers what my gm service manual says for my 86 2.8 mpfi cavalier:

    adjust:
    1. install 3 jumper wires between tps and harnes connector. 2. ignition ON use a voltmeter connected between "a" and "b" and adjust tps to .55 volts give or take .05v

i know one wire is a 5v reference, shows as gray in my book. a is black, and b is dk blue. might be different for your car, just find the 5 volt one and mark it so you dont use it by mistake.

No sorry I swaped a 91 3.4 TDC into my fiero, but I will see if I can get that technique to work.

Any idea why the new one makes it idle high while the old does not.

      Thanks
