Break something else so it overcomes the lifter noise

I just learned to get used to it .. Your car is 14yrs old ..

Try using Lucas Oil Stabilizer on your next oil change. Just replace a quart of regular oil with a quart of this. Works like a charm.

So add the stabilizer everytime you do the oil change to maintain the quietness? Or once in a while ?

            Thanks

I use it every time and havent heard the noise in over a year in fact it actually runs much quieter than most of the 3.4s i have heared, at least on the engine side. Though you probably dont have to use it every time.

I added Valvoline Maxlife Engine Protectant (it's an additive, not an oil). There's a tribologist on the s2ki.com boards who highly recommended it. It completely quieted my lifter tick. I have also combined it with Valvoline maxlife oil (it's a syn/conventional blend with lots of awesome additives). By using the two, I have reduced oil leakage, burning, and lifter tick.

I did an oil change today with the recommendation of Lucas Oil Stabilizer .. that stuff is like glue .. Made the mistake of adding it via funnel .. not a good idea if you value your time! What a mess!

yea that stuff is pretty thick but it thins out with the addition of the other four quarts of oil. I made the same mistake the first time I used it too. Now I just flip the bottle over into the hole and squeeze. It is meant to help keep the parts that are higher up on the motor covered in oil when it if off. Just curious, how did it work for you?

Besides the fact I was in a hurry and I got that Lucas stuff all over everything
My motor has around 200,000 hard earned miles. Im not gonna lie and endorse the product, but I do think it *MIGHT* have made the motor a lil more quiet. I do have an oil burning issue, and I will see later on if it was slowed down. But for $7 .. I dont think I will buy it again.

Man, I think I really hijacked this thread .. but thanks for the recommendation. Ill let you know how it goes later on.

On a side note, it took me 4qt jug of 10w-30, a quart of Lucas Stabilizer and almost another full quart of regular motor oil .. and the dipstick (cold) reads Im short a half quart .. Any ideas?

I cant really think of anything aside from the fact that some oil is probably floating around in the engine and hasn't settled all the way. Your probably ok.

Hmm... try the Maxlife Engine protectant. It has greatly reduced/eliminated my noise. It usually takes a tank or so of gas to work.

Just changed my oil today with (4 qts.) Max Life Syn. and one bottle of Lucus Oil Treatment and all I can say is WOW. The second I cranked it up, there was the licker tick, but 5-10 seconds later it faded to nothing. This stuff really works and I would recommend it to any one.
