  • Cold start problems

Hey all. I've been in the W-body game for about 4 months now and I've run into a problem. When it gets really cold outside, like 15 degrees F., the engine gets difficult to start. Requiring multiple attempts to make thing work. there is no problem starting when it's above freezing and once running, it will stay running, meaning it hasn't stalled since I got the timing right. any help would be much appreciated.

    RE: Cold start problems

mine wont start if its -10* celcius or below(thats 10 degrees below freezing) (right now its -40 with windchill) unless the block heaters plugged in. I really dont see a way around this... cold starts aren't exactly good for an engine and i would recommend always plugging the block heater in amyways. Check your antifreeze, coolant levels and your batterys CCA's (cold cranking amps) and also putting in synthetic oil would probably help...

Oh and a little useless tidbit of information, if the hoods covered in snow, the snow above the louvres will melt, proving they are actually minutely functional.

I actually did know that the louvres were functional. I realized this during the summer when I noticed streaks of distortion rising from the louvres.
