First of all, hi! This is my first post here. AWESOME SITE!
On my '95 GTP-
Optima Red-Top battery
Brand New Starter
NO remote starter
One day, I started the car, it started but shut right down. I turned the ignition switch off. When I turned it forward again just to the 'on' position, I lost ALL power to the car. The interior lights shut off and there are no dummy lights on the dash at all.
The battery had very little power and it was freezing outside so I had it recharged. The car started again, then died. Then it was try to crank, but would sound like crap and not even turn. Turned ignition off, then back on.. again, inside lights died.
With a VOM- battery has +12. The +terminal on the fuse box by the battery has +12 when the ignition is both on and off.
I pulled the ignition switch fuses and the inside lights DO illuminate with the ignition on ( I didn't crank it though without a fuse). Replaced ignition switch fuses 1 and 2, still same problem as orignally.
***Does this sound like the ignition switch?? The main reason I'm ruling it down to that instead of a fuel pump resistor, p/n switch etc.. is my back up lights work, I'm sure I'm getting air/fuel/spark because the car used to fire up and mainly due to the fact that once the ignition is ON I lose all power inside the car.
*I tried a search are there any write-ups on replacing this?
Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance!!!!!!
